milky way

My first entry for the 100 themes challenge! It's for variation 3, number 100, titled rocket! Just like me to start with the last thing first xD
Anyways, this was just a simple doodle. Based off a small day dream, involving rockets, outer space, Yggdrasil the world tree, a pink saturn, and another whirl wind adventure with me and the guys xD. I guess it sorta came from things we love or dreams we chase. I am constantly trying to "reach for the stars" and pursue a better life. Jose with his love of plants, would be reading at the foot of Yggdrasil, and Peter... well he always had a thing for shiny, dangerous metal objects and then there is his general dislike of apple software (as I find many avid gamers are xD) So I somehow imagined us, pursuing our dreams, while living in our fantasies at the same time, so the daydream would kinda be surreal and abstract I guess It was also inspired by train's song Drops of Jupiter.
This was mostly an experiment with crayola and sargent art markers. In fact, almost the whole picture is marker. Only the small details like the people weren't marker, and some details I used other stuff. The original looks better :/ the milky thingy is supposed to be shiny, and the colors more vibrant, but what can one do? :/ I used bristol paper for this, since I used markers, and this actually took a lot shorter than most of my colored works! Markers are a lot faster to use, but more difficult to shade with and tempermental, but it's worth it! I will be using markers more in the future! xD
